Weeknotes: The Chase Is Better Than The Catch — Week 17, 2026

  • This week a new section was born in my Slack. That’s what kind of week it was.
  • Really enjoying project work. All the frameworks are now in place. Architecture is mostly aligned. Real progress is happening.
  • It has come at the cost of a few late nights: One of which we had Fish & Chips, for me for the first time since moving to Tokyo. It was alright.
  • I enjoyed Wednesday.
  • Capped the week at Manager Camp, where for my self intro I talked about spice, symmetry and love. This was my first away-day since leaving Customer Products: We made a few big decisions and I had a great time working on problems with people I don’t normally get a chance to.
  • Dinner was nice: Rodizio!
  • Saturday marked the Nihonbashi sake tour, and I joined a group galavanting around. My favourite was actually the very first one I tried, and unfortunately I didn’t get its name. Capped the night at a bar playing classical chess, where I was totally blindsided and despite having the edge for most of the game, I lost in a very funny way.
  • Went to see Nastia, long on my bucket list. It’s 50:50 if I enjoy club-nights now, and I’m erring on the side of not enjoying them: Their cost is to high.
  • To a world that abhors you and I?
