Weeknotes: Room Of Mirrors — Week 16, 2026

  • Between the weather and a project: Things are heating up this week.
  • WithGreen’s taco-rice salad is pretty good.
  • Lots of meetings in Japanese this week as we seek to resolve some important things. I enjoy it: It is exactly the immersion I sought when coming to Japan.
  • Friday night I went to a club looking for someone whose phone had died, and spent the entire night looking for them. We didn’t meet, but I did encounter a verrrry popular influencer/streamer, who is much, much shorter IRL than Instagram makes it seem but otherwise exactly the same.
  • Nobody teaches you how to dress. At the weekend I took a big step and did a few rounds of image consulting and learned how wrong my wardrobe is: I’m a Bright Summer.
  • After catching up with CR, I do my first long run since last year. Traffic-lights continue to be frustrating.
  • Sunday was the first BBQ of the season, on a rooftop in Shibuya, followed by an after-party in the park. Tinnies in the park continue being peak.
  • Afterwards, equipped with knowledge of what accessories suit me, I picked up a few things from Apple, and finally, some new sunglasses. Bring on the sunlight.
  • My friend, do you fly away now?
