Weeknotes: The Shortest Straw — Week 18, 2026

  • This week is, well, busy. And the weather is genuinely perfect.
  • At the start of the week I wrote a 30 minute talk, but postponed it at the eleventh hour after being delayed (and, a small case of nerves). Pretty happy with the state I got it into though.
  • Only went and injured myself running again, didn’t I!
  • Wednesday was a public holiday, and I spent it mostly catching up on errands.
  • The remainder of the week was spent speaking to many many teams and arranging boxes on a diagram, and then wrapping it up with a bow for a report.
  • Originally I had some ambitious weekend plans involving Kraftwerk and a beach party, but then something newsworthy happened and I found myself in Tamachi eating late-night curry and blasting music instead.
  • Clown Core are very good BTW.
  • Wrapped the week with a last-minute omakase okonomiyaki dinner in Jiyugaoka, and some karaoke in what can only be described as the backrooms.
  • Short notes on account of the weekend thing, innit.
  • All that awaits you is a somber morrow.
