Happy Leap Day week! Did you know babies born on February 29th are called Leapers or Leaplings?
Birmingham’s busses were fitted in the late 2000s with screens showing announcements, advertisements and a quote of the day. There were some real zingers on show, but only one stood out. Coming home one day I saw Miles Kington’s infamous line: “Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad”. In that moment I realised the difference.
Years later, with these words still echoing in my head, I still over-index on knowledge over wisdom. I don’t really know why. Maybe it’s impatience? Wisdom happens over time.
Thematically, but definitely unrelatedly, Pinto’s Beans didn’t win the quiz this time. I can’t believe none of us could identify the Grand Designs theme tune.
Enjoyed walking up Chapel Market.
The weekend was a bit of a blur really: I walked around SE London a bit, and impulse bought books of short stories in Russian and Japanese to sharpen my reading.
