Weeknotes: Turn The Page — Week 20, 2026

  • Lots of architecture and design work this week. In the run-up to the end of the quarter there’s also a lot of small things to wrap-up but not enough time.
  • Access & Identity (aka Auth) is a fascinating domain.
  • I was summoned for some belated birthday drinks at The Aldgate which is a delightful pub. There I received some confirmation bias, and an interesting fortune reading. We tried to decode a curious social dynamic, met someone from my hometown and by the end of the night I had been thoroughly defeated in chess.
  • You might’ve noticed some design tweaks on this blog: Well, channelling enthusiasm I have made some long-overdue improvements including finishing setting up Storybook so I can do more design work in isolation, and fixing gripes with Gatsby + porting it to TypeScript.
  • The Yotsu Crew met up for some sake, some dinner and finished by taking the train for cocktails at Coto Academy. Mine was absinthe which was bold for a school night.
  • Unfortunately an event I was looking forward to on Friday got cancelled, so instead I finished the week with a fun little casual dinner in Akiba at a video-game bar. I was pretty good at Street Fighter. There’s a parallel timeline I became a fighting-game guy: I wonder what that Alex would have been like?
  • Spent a lot of the weekend working on a personal learning project, but unfortunately wasn't able to get it to a good state.
  • My soul, corrupted by vengeance.
